Jon Grabelle Herrmann

After four years of working to advance our mission, Jon Grabelle Herrmann will be transitioning from USA250 to pursue opportunities closer to home in New York City. We are grateful for Jon’s efforts and wish him well in his future projects. For USA250 related matters, please feel free to contact Danielle DiLeo Kim, Executive Director, Philadelphia, with any questions at danielle@usa250.org.

From 2014-19, Jon helped to relaunch USA250 to ensure that the USA’s 250th anniversary in 2026 can achieve its full potential as a civic milestone for the country. During his tenure as executive director, USA250 successfully supported efforts by Congress to establish the US Semiquincentennial Commission, studied best practices for major comparison events, developed models for a national celebration site in Philadelphia, and attracted participation by a diverse range of civic, nonprofit, corporate, and government leaders.

Jon Grabelle Herrmann is a NYC-based senior executive and repeat entrepreneur with 18 years nonprofit leadership experience including fundraising, communications, strategy, management, and program development in issue areas spanning education, politics, arts and culture, international affairs, and tourism development. He has served as a nonprofit board member for various causes, including: PK-8 education, grassroots community philanthropy, peace advocacy, and historic preservation.

Prior to USA250, Jon was Southeast PA campaign director at Pre-K for PA, a nonpartisan campaign that helped to influence an annual increase of $90M in state funding for early childhood education. He served as national field director for J Street, which organizes pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans who want Israel to be secure, democratic and the national home of the Jewish people. And he was founding executive director at Campus Philly, connecting Philadelphia-area college students to the regional community and economy. Jon earned his BS from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been recognized for outstanding leadership: ‘40 under 40’ by Philadelphia Business Journal (2008); ‘101 Top Connectors’ by Leadership Philadelphia, Inc. (2008). And he is most proud to have once been named among Philadelphia Eagles/ Dunkin’ Donuts “75 Greatest Living Philadelphians.”

Today, Jon lives in New York City with his wife, Rabbi Lauren Grabelle Herrmann, and their two children. Jon can be contacted at jon@ghnyc.net.
